Testimonials
Paul has learned from being around many of the best players and coaches in the golf world for the last 20 plus years and as a result found out what works and what does not work with all types of personality types and learning styles.
He uses some of their methods with my own students to ensure guaranteed progress.
His students are all levels of players from beginner level to tour pro level.
The most challenging students are to get a non experienced player to play well. The tour pro caliber player is always an easier fix. They are already good and some have a need to be great.

Part III. TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Identify the most important part of the game
I have realised the utmost importance of golfers developing soft skills, controlling their emotions, beliefs and attitudes on and off the golf course. The following categories are also included in my overall holistic approach to developing the best possible golfer you can be, both in the short term and long term.
My holistic coaching philosophy is performance 8, working with students on these areas: Emotional, Social, Spiritual, Nutritional, Physical, Technical, Tactical, Mental to maximize our players performance. When I walk around the golf course with a player I will build up their confidence, encourage them to believe in themselves, that they have prepared well and have shown good discipline in their decision making. I tell my players swing is part of technical and that we have the seven other areas to excel in.
My first goal with every student is to help them evaluate their golf goals realistically based on factors such as commitment and athletic ability. Students mainly play the game for fun, enjoyment and to improve. Students take the time to clarify with themselves what they want from golf so we can build a learning plan to meet these goals. I believe in keeping the learning approach as simple as possible. Focusing my feedback to the student to suit their learning styles, personality and to keeping words as simple as possible based on their golfing ability levels.
My goal is to empower each student to realize that the true test of my value is when I am not present. My role is to provide a foundation and core knowledge for each student to work from. To provide direction, to motivate, to provide drills and a practice plan. I focus a great deal of mydirection with students on drills and concepts to develop their motion. We must first learn to move correctly, and then our hands can get on the correct inner arc and the clubhead on the outside arc with a square clubface at impact.
It is ideal if we can swing as close to being on plane as possible, so your swing is easier to repeat, especially and easier to produce under pressure. Working from the hole back to the tee is the approach I recommend to all students.
The majority of the game is played from around the green. Regardless of predetermined limitations, all golfers can become great short game players. The short game is emphasized in my overall teaching approach.
We use video and pressure mats to show our students their data vs model swings, but more importantly we will show our students also what appropriate drills and training aids are best for them and how to fix their problems. We don’t guess, we measure first, and then we assign the drills and training aids.
Most Important Part Of The Game
I believe there is not just one most important part of the game. Players must fuse the 8 area’s together.
Each of our players have different strengths and weaknesses, but they know what they are and how to manage them.
We drive the ball up to 14 times a round, and hit 14 approach shots. If we hit the driver straight and far we have an advantage with a higher lofted club to hit it closer. If we hit it closer we can be less reliant on our putting to save us for a low score, so all 8 area’s must be working.
For me, spending more time with players in a tournament preparation environment helps them the most for our players learning to score under pressure. Arrive early in the week and take our time to study the task at hand.
We have the students play against other students of the same ability in our own academy tournaments to see how they perform first in the build up to bigger events.
We prepare exactly like a tournament day so the easiest gains for our juniors is for them getting better with their on course Golf IQ. I like to work on the mental aspects of their game to see how they are thinking on the golf course.
We do rules workshops so they know the key rules, and how to look up rules from the back index. By knowing or not knowing the rules could put them at an advantage or disadvantage.
We work on the holistic approach and evaluate our players alot on the golf course pre- tournaments and during tournaments to see how the preparation and discipline works in tournaments.
2. Describing Philosophy Incorporated Into My Teaching Approach
Each player knows exactly what drills they are working on at a given time. It gives them a sense of direction for their improvement.
We spend time on the course daily working on our Golf IQ and working on overall preparation, decision making, and getting comfortable shooting lower scores from forward tees. This is our tactical approach working well. Caddies normally hand drivers to a player on every par 4 or par 5 and our players know it is their decision which club to use as they are accountable.
Short game contests take place each day outside of private session time overseen by a staff member to record the data. We do elimination contests so they get more comfortable in competitive situations.
We set up workstations each morning for the whole day so players can come and work away themselves on perfect practice. They can look in the big mirrors at their new motion, use the training aids and use the workstations to check their performance.
Players will do fitness classes and technical sessions on different days to help the body recover.
Players are bringing the correct amount of nutritional foods and drinks on the course and they are thinking more like athletes now.
A player can have great technical ability, but they will fail if you do not have the emotional stability and solid tactical I.Q
We are helping players manage their neural states, flow states, and how their brain works.
I informed our players that a great asset for a player is to have a short memory.
Some players don’t have it for 9 holes, then they can flip a switch and go 5 under.
They are now playing various sports in school as we discussed that 70 percent of Olympians were multi sport participants growing up.
